Hanging A New Interior Door
Position your chisel about 45 degrees whilst doing this.
Hanging a new interior door. When learning how to hang an interior door this is probably the most complicated part. This is a do. Using a sharp chisel about 1 inch in width chisel a series of 1mm deep notches.
The old door was used to router out the hinge and handset placement. The stamped symbol is there to show you which side of the door the latch and handles should be fitted. Push the door and frame into the opening.
If the door needs to be fitted to the frame do so by planing with an electric or hand plane depending on how much needs to be taken off. Make sure your door is going to fit into the opening. Also mark the door at the latch hole for the existing strike plate.
You should also make sure to cut the bottom of the door by half an inch more than the space between the top of the door and the jamb. You can cut a spacer or use cardboard in between to ensure consistency when hanging more than one door. Basically it requires some basic chisel skills.
Here is the question. Check the rough opening. Chisel the recesses on your new door.
Most internal doors have an extra wide wood block on one side to accommodate. The old hinges are 3 inches with a 5 8 inch radius. Mark the door where it meets the existing hinge mortises on the jamb.
